PROFILE
NORMAL PROJECTS is a multidisciplinary research based architecture and design practice. We work with network of design professionals including architects, engineers, industrial designers, programmers, and fabricators on a wide range of projects including built and speculative work. We are interested in technology, computation, sustainability, and domesticity. This site features both professional work as well as investigations, experiments, photos, news, and other reports from our various activities. We do professional architectural work as Chen|Anderson Architecture.

Michael Chen studied architecture at the University of California at Berkeley (BA) and Columbia University (M.Arch) where he received the Lowenfish Award for Design Excellence and the Kinne Travelling Fellowship. He was the 2004 Van Alen Institute Dinkeloo Fellow at the American Academy in Rome. He has taught architecture at Cornell University, Columbia University, Parsons School of Design, and is currently on the faculty at Pratt Institute School of Architecture where he is also the Director of the Kullman Research Center. He is a Registered Architect in New York State.
Kari Anderson studied art at Brown University (BA) and architecture at Columbia University (M.Arch) where she received the Kinne Traveling Fellowship. She has taught architecture at Cornell University, Pratt Institute, Columbia University, and as of 2009 is on the faculty at Woodbury University.
